Managing your money

If you receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), a representative payee may help manage your money. Your rep payee may be a friend, a family member, or an organization.

Is your payee keeping track of your benefits — spending and saving them appropriately? Can you meet your basic needs?

The Social Security Administration imposes strict rules on representative payees. As Colorado’s Protection and Advocacy organization, we conduct site reviews to make sure those rules are followed.

Report Harm

People with disabilities are often subjected to abuse, neglect, and exploitation — including fraud and other forms of financial harm. If you suspect mistreatment, report it to a public agency.
