Sara Ortiz joined Disability Justice in 2026. She is a Chicago native that holds a Bachelor’s in Public Health and a Master’s in Healthcare Administration Candidate. She is an Army veteran with over seven years’ experience in social services. Sara is focused in breaking down systemic barriers, enhancing accessibility, and ensuring equal access to justice across the legal system.
Prior to her current role, Sara spent three and a half years supporting American Military Families with special medical and educational needs in South Korea. In this capacity, she provided comprehensive advocacy, resource navigation, and guiding families through the complex landscape of securing accommodations and specialized resources overseas. Her background blends extensive leadership from her military career with a deep understanding of person-centered care and community advocacy.
In her free time, she enjoys trail running, reading, and spending time with her husband, son, and their two dogs.
